2 PostDoc Position

For the research project "Verifying Self-consistent MPI performance guidelines", funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), the Research Group for Parallel Computing at the Institute of Information Systems, Faculty of Informatics, TU Wien is offering a fully funded One-year PostDoc position (40 hours/week).

3 Research Topic

MPI is the de-facto standard for implementing parallel algorithms on large-scale distributed memory machines. As part of the research project, we benchmark MPI operations to evaluate the performance of algorithms and implementations provided by different libraries. The PostDoc researcher will help devising, implementing, and evaluating algorithms in the MPI context.

The position is a research position and comes with no teaching obligations, although general interest in the Parallel Computing group's activities is expected. The PostDoc salary is in accordance with the Austrian standard rate for University employees (3.590,70 EUR/month gross). The position will offer opportunities for interaction with the MPI community.

4 Required Qualifications

  • A good PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or related area
  • Strong background in computer science, especially in parallel computing
  • Experience with MPI, either at application or implementation level
  • Good programming skills, especially C
  • Solid software engineering skills
  • Speaking German is not required, but fluency in English (written and spoken) is a must.
